Group interviews can be an unfamiliar interview style for candidates. From your experience, what would be your advice for interviewees?

"The group interview is not as daunting as many expect it to be! You should treat this as a round table discussion. It is important to actively participate in the conversation, listening to others and knowing when is the right time to speak. You can show your teamwork skills by involving others and building on the points made by others."

Top Tips

The Application

Here are our top tips ahead of submitting your application:

Start early Don’t wait until the last minute to apply. Allocate yourself sufficient time to research the firm, define your goals and proof-read your CV and cover letter. Remember - attention to detail is a key skill for a future lawyer.

Don’t copy & paste Avoid the temptation to use a generic template for your application.

Interests & skills We recruit from all degree disciplines, not just law. Make sure to let your interests, hobbies and skills shine through to showcase your personality.

Be yourself The most important thing to remember is to be yourself! Your biggest advantage by far will be that you’re not like any other candidate.

Group Interview

Be informed Stay up to date with current affairs.

Collaborate Make sure to listen to others and collaborate.

Communicate Express your opinions clearly and concisely but also ensure you listen to others.

Individual Interview

Be yourself The interviewers want to get to know the ‘real you’. This is a conversation and there are no trick questions.

Know your application Be prepared to talk about your CV and cover letter and why you are interested in this career path.

Be confident You've made it this far, be confident in your abilities.

Interviews can be tricky. What advice do you have for the individual interview?

"Remember that the partners who interview you will already have a copy of your CV. The individual interview is more about getting to know you as a person, why you would be a good fit for the firm and why the firm would be a good fit for you. Be yourself and show them that you’re someone they would love to work with!"
